"Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world."

Famous Saying by Ada Louise Huxtable

Synch Up Your Smart Phone Wirelessly

matt

Smart phones have become much more prevalent in the last few years. With smart phones comes the ability for always-on mobile access to your email as well as to the web.

But did you know that you could also have access to your Outlook calendar, contacts, and task list wirelessly as well?

There are three types of phones that provide this capability: Blackberry's, iPhone's, and Windows Mobile devices. All of these products have the ability to link with your business Exchange Server and to enable you to download your contacts, email, calendar, task list, and in the case of the Blackberry, your notes. What makes this a great option is that it doesn't cost anything in license fees. All it requires is some configuration on the server. Once the configuration is complete, it is easy to add new devices as well.

If you are interested in this configuration and are not yet "fully connected" please contact MXOtech to receive your 25% discount on the service.  It will make your life much easier!

The Art of Searching

matt

The best way to start any online search is to take a few general concepts and add in one or two very unique details about your search topic.  For example: if you want a quick breakfast drink, you may want to type in - breakfast drink, smoothie, fruit smoothie, protein drink etc..  Doing this alone will help target good results.  Encapsulate phrases in quotation marks so that the search will look for that exact phrase word for word. The first set of results may not be perfect.  Pick through these results and examine the words and phrases being used on those web pages.  Sometimes you will notice a word or phrase that may act as a better search term. Many web sites have search engines that only look through the site's data narrowing your search and improving the odds.   If your results link to pages that look like they may have more information try searching in that web site.  The Google engine allows a user to type in specialized syntax to modify a search operation (many search engines allow some form of this).  If you want to search for sites with the word "test" in the URL (website name or page) then type "inurl:test" (w/o quotes) in the Google search engine.  This will yield only results with the word "test" in the webpage address.  You'll find a list of operators is listed here: http://www.google.com/help/operators.html. And take advantage of special search engines.  Search databases of images http://images.google.com or US Government information http://www.google.com/ig/usgov ...many more exist.  You may even search for a better way to search!
